Julia Cecelia was born to Charles and Ida Maley Bauer on 7/31/1916 at her parents home on Bridge St. in Indianapolis. She was the third born of four children. She grew up in Indianapolis attending Holy Cross and Assumption Grade School. She completed high school at St. Mary's Academy in Indianapolis in 1934. She married John Aloysius Kuhn on 5/30/1942 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. They were blessed with three children. Julia's husband, John, died in 1964 of lung cancer. Her children attended St. James Grade School and Chartrand/Roncalli High School. She was employed for some time at Shell, but spent the majority of her adult life as a homemaker. As her children grew up and married, her grandchildren became the focus of her life. She thoroughly enjoyed attending any sporting event she could get to. She also enjoyed her favorite Indiana teams, The Colts and Pacers and Indiana University & Purdue. Julia lived at 2942 Beech St. in Indianapolis for over 55 years. One of her favorite ways to spend time was to sit at the window and watch traffic on Troy Ave. go by. Her final year was spent at Forest Creek Village on Thompson & US 31 in Indianapolis. She was a very religious lady, attending church whenever she could make it. She died 11/27/2000 of congestive heart failure. Her legacy will live on in many ways. A stained glass window will be dedicated to her memory at St. Jude Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Her children and grandchildren will also strive to model her life of faith, perseverance and hope. |
